My husband had asthma since he was a child. My 3rd child also has asthma. For years, it was a constant routine of inhalers, steroids, trips the ER, etc. I'm sure many of you are with me on this. I remember being in the hospital delivering my 4th and right after that, my husband was downstairs in the ER with my 3rd for a severe asthma attach. Stressful. This poor child was born an athlete but would always end up sitting out because the grass would inflame him. I pretty much thought this would be our routine. He was on several drugs, which I hated, and so was my husband. I didn't know a way around it. One day, my son had a particularly bad attack and I took him to the ER. This time, the Dr told me that there is a point of no return with asthma and we may be about there. What??!!! I had never realized that asthma couldn't always be controlled. I was scared to death and so sad to see such a sick looking child. I took him to an allergist who told me that we needed to lower his allergy baseline so that when allergies hit, he didn't go right to an attack. His option was more drugs. We went for it and it helped. However, the idea of him and my husband being on drugs for their whole lives didn't sit well with me. The doctors words stuck with me. We needed to lower their baseline. Asthma is an inflammation in the airways. How do we lower the inflammation? I set to work, studying all I could. First, I removed dairy. HUGE no no for asthmatics!! Dairy creates mucous. I don't need to explain why you don't want that in your airways. Then, I added the asthma cocktail; liquid D3, buffered C, magnesium and A & I (allergy and inflammation from New Beginnings. ) In a matter of a couple months, my husband and son were off all medications. To this day, 12 years later, neither of them have had an allergy attack. Ever. They maybe take a hit of an inhaler twice a year, tops. My son is a star athlete for High school on dusty grass fields. He can breathe. It is such a blessing to no longer have the stress of asthma in our lives. I have had several friends try this same treatment with the same miraculous effect. Asthma is a reaction. Reactions have a cause. Treat the cause. The end.
If you have ever tried to go off sugar and started reading labels, you probably are amazed that sugar is in EVERYTHING!! Salad dressings, salsa, marinara sauce, hummus.... Things we even think are healthy! Sugar is the worst epidemic we are facing in our diets. Fats get most of the bad wrap in the diet world but the truth is that sugar is the number one cause for disease and obesity. It is a highly addictive drug as it causes a massive dump of dopamine when it is consumed. It makes you feel good! But that is a lie. The truth is, sugar causes our metabolism to be ruined, our immune system to be shot, our insulin to become resistant which leads to diabetes, cancer cells to grow, immune diseases to thrive, ADD/ADHD to run rampant, Candida to flourish and on and on. If it wasn't so powerful, just try going off of it for a while and see how horrible you feel as the drug leaves your body. It is literally putting your body through a drug detox. This time of year, we start the sugar overload season with Halloween kick off. Ever wonder why flu and cold season starts right after Halloween and runs till after New Years? It's our heavy sugar laden diets during the holidays!! Get rid of the sugar and you won't get sick. I haven't had the flu in over 20 years. My kids NEVER get the flu. Rarely do we have colds. Yes, we eat treats but they are in moderation, we use honey, maple and coconut sugar most of the time. If you want good health and a healthy holiday season, dump the sugar. Get rid of your soda and juice addiction. Diet sodas are even worse as aspartame is a killer. That is a whole other post. Treats should be for special times or a weekend indulgence. Our kids are constantly rewarded with sugar. Make your homes a safe zone. If you have candy and treats, that's what they will eat. If you have fruit and healthy snacks, they will eat that. Take control of your family and your lives. Clean out the junk, break the sugar addiction and see how amazing a healthy life feels. Pay now or pay later. You can't have it both ways.
I would say the hottest topic I address daily in emails is about Candida, aka yeast. How do you know if you have it? What are the symptoms? How do you get rid of it? Yeast is a tricky little bugger that causes an enormous about of grief for its hosts. To catch you up if you missed my post before, Candida goes hand in hand with gut problems but also so much more; arthritis, chronic sinus issues, fogginess, hormone issues, food sensitivities, hypothyroidism, allergies, autism, ADHD, ADD, sugar cravings, yeast infections, reproductive issues, bronchial issues, brain problems and poor immunity to name a few! It lives among the good bacteria but it can overtake the good bacteria and fill in the crevices in our bodies, like joints and sinuses and cause massive problems. It overgrows with sugar, processed foods, antibiotics, hormones (pill and pregnancy as well), steroids and poor immunity. With kids, I can spot yeasty kid right away; goofiness, almost drunk like, toe walking, spacey, lack of focus, etc. Yeast wants to be fed so you crave the sugar and carbs it desires. Yeast is HARD to get under control and the longer you have had it, the longer it takes. For me, I know yeast is acting up when I get bloated from a little sugar or fruit. I feel spacey when I even eat a little. If I catch it quick, I can heal super quickly. If you have had issues for a while, it's going to take a while to heal. It's just the way it works. So how do you treat yeast? First, you have to stop feeding it. You need to get off sugar asap. Limit the starches and fruit sugars as well. After you can commit to changing your diet, there is a combination of supplements that work amazingly to heal and kill. You want a package deal that cleans the colon, kills the yeast and helps put the good bacteria back where it should be. If you do it right,healing can happen. My son was off the chart with yeast! It was a tough process but he has been healthy and happy for years now. If there is anything I know, yeast is it. I studied it more than I have studied anything else in my life.
